ABOUT US

We are Cleveland State University Master of Occupational Therapy students. We have collaborated with Invacare, the world’s leading manufacturer of wheelchairs, to determine how individuals can increase function within the home using Electronic Aids for Daily Living (EADL's). EADL's provide individuals with assistance in maintaining independence by affording alternative methods to effectively control and monitor the home environment.

Current literature has determined that individuals with disabilities would be positively impacted by assistive devices and the purpose of this project was to discover what devices are available, how and where they are purchased, and what type of connectivity is necessary to assure universal compatibility. The results of our research were used to develop this product website, which is accessible from Cleveland State University Master of Occupational Therapy homepage and Invacare’s company website.

Our continued goal includes the exploration of additional EADL's available on the market, expanding device categories, and improving usability of the existing website. We also intend to explore EADL usability with Invacare wheelchair controllers as new technology becomes available, with the continued reinforcement of the idea that it is technologically intuitive to be able to access EADL's from a universal website.  We will update the website as advancements in technology take place.
